The Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania
The Lehigh Valley is a
metropolitan area encompassing several cities, towns and outlying areas in
Eastern Pennsylvania. Full of history, events and great people, the Lehigh
Valley is a great place to both visit and to live. Consisting of the
triplet cities: Allentown, Bethlehem
and Easton, and smaller hometowns like Whitehall, Emmaus, Nazareth, Coopersburg,
Macungie, Northampton, and Catasauqua.
The Lehigh Valley area is located only 45 minutes north of Philadelphia
and an hour and a half east of New York City.
Throughout the Lehigh Valley, you'll find places of historical significance. From the German Farmhouses of the 18th and 19th Centuries and the covered bridges found throughout the rolling hills and fertile farmlands of the Lehigh Valley, to the Historic downtown Bethlehem area with its Moravian buildings, gas lamp lit brick walkways and gorgeous 18th and 19th Century Victorian Homes. You'll be entranced by the river walk in downtown Easton or the Church in downtown Allentown where the Liberty Bell spent time hiding from the British during the American Revolution. George Washington and Marquis de Layette planned and acted against the British in taverns in Historic Bethlehem.
The Lehigh Valley is also home to many great companies or every size. Bethlehem Steel, Binney & Smith (the makers of Crayola Crayons), Air Products, Pennsylvania Power and Light, Mack Truck, and large facilities for AT&T, Lucent Technologies.

Transportation. The area is easily accessible from
major highway routes. Interstate 78 and Route 22 run through the Lehigh
Valley and provide easy access to New York on the East and Harrisburg, Pittsburg
and the West. Route 309 and 476 provide easy access to the Philadelphia
metro areas, and Route 33 provides access to the Pocono resorts. The
Lehigh Valley is also home to the third largest airport in Pennsylvania - Lehigh
Valley International Airport.
Recreation. The Lehigh Valley is home to Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom bringing visitors from the tri-state area and beyond. You'll find plenty of golf courses, museums, and an incredible park system. Take time to visit Crayola Crayon's factory, go whitewater rafting on the Lehigh River. Skiing is just minutes away in the Pocono Mountains or take in a baseball game with the Allentown Ambassadors, or go diving at Dutch Springs in Bethlehem.
The Lehigh Valley boasts a variety of great festivals. World famous is Musikfest, a two week celebration of the area's German Heritage with free concerts by top artists going on continually, lots of great food and fireworks, held in Historic Downtown Bethlehem. The Celtic Heritage is Celebrated with the weekend festival, CelticFest, from Celtic imports to food to pipe bands and Highland games.
